Frequently Asked Questions About ITAD Services

What is IT asset disposition (ITAD)?

IT asset disposition (ITAD) is the secure, documented process for retiring an organization’s technology. Green Century can inventory and track assets, protect or destroy data, evaluate equipment for reuse or remarketing, and responsibly recycle material that cannot be reused.

Green Century uses a documented chain of custody, secure collection methods, restricted facility access, and device or serial-number tracking. Data-bearing devices can receive certified logical wiping or physical destruction through punching or shredding, depending on your security policy and reuse goals.

Green Century accepts many business electronics, including computers, laptops, servers, hard drives and other storage devices, mobile phones, tablets, networking equipment, office electronics, and related e-waste. Confirm unusual, hazardous, or specialized equipment with our team before pickup so handling requirements can be included in your quote.

Pricing depends on the equipment inventory, volume, service locations, site access, transportation, data-destruction method, reporting, and any special handling. Green Century provides a project-specific quote; business ITAD and pickup services should not be assumed to be free.

Stage equipment in an accessible area, clear hallways and loading paths, and group similar items together. Separate computers, servers, hard drives, and other data-bearing devices; identify assets requiring certified destruction; and keep loose batteries, media, ink, and toner separate. Tell us about stairs, elevators, loading docks, or special handling before service.

After pickup, equipment is received and tracked, data-bearing assets follow the selected destruction or wiping process, and reusable equipment may be evaluated for refurbishment or remarketing. Assets that cannot be reused are processed for responsible material recovery through controlled downstream channels. Certificates of Destruction and serialized reports are available for the agreed service scope.
